Learn how to activate and deactivate Creative Cloud apps.
Activation connects an app to a valid user license. You need to activate your apps in order to use them after purchasing a plan.

- Make sure your computer is connected to the Internet.
- Click the Creative Cloud icon, located in the taskbar (Windows) or dock (macOS), to open the Creative Cloud desktop app.
- If prompted to sign in, enter your Adobe ID (usually your email) and password, and click Sign in. (If you are already signed in, the Creative Cloud desktop app won't prompt you to sign in).Once signed in, your Creative Cloud license and all installed apps and services are activated automatically.
- Make sure your computer is connected to the Internet.
- Launch any Creative Cloud application installed on your computer.
- Do one of the following:
- If asked to sign in: Enter your Adobe ID (usually your email), and click Sign in.
- If not asked to sign in: Choose Help > Sign In, then click Sign in now. Enter your Adobe ID (usually your email) and password, then click Sign in. (If the Help menu displays Sign Out(your Adobe ID), you are already signed in.)
Once you are signed in, your Creative Cloud license and all installed apps and services are activated automatically.Note:If you're already signed in on other devices, app versions Creative Cloud 2019 prompt you sign out. See, Device activation limit | Creative Cloud 2019.
Deactivation disconnects your apps on a specific computer from your user license. Deactivating allows you to install and run apps on a new computer. (A single license for Adobe software lets you install an application on two computers. See On how many computers can I install my apps?)
- Make sure your computer is connected to the Internet.
- Click the Creative Cloud icon in either the taskbar (Windows) or dock (macOS), to open the Creative Cloud desktop app.
- If prompted to sign in, enter your Adobe ID (usually your email) and password, then click Sign in. (If the app doesn't prompt you, you are already signed in.)
- Refresh your account information in the app using the following keyboard commands:Ctrl + Alt + RCommand + Option + RThe Creative Cloud desktop app restarts automatically.Note:If the Creative Cloud desktop app doesn't restart, launch it manually:Windows Choose Start > Programs > Adobe Creative Cloud
Mac OS Choose Go > Applications > Adobe Creative Cloud > Adobe Creative Cloud - In the confirmation dialog box, click Sign Out.The Creative Cloud apps and services associated with your Adobe ID are deactivated on that computer.
- Make sure your computer is connected to the Internet.
- Launch any Creative Cloud application installed on your computer.
- In the confirmation dialog box, click Sign Out.The Creative Cloud apps and services associated with your Adobe ID are deactivated on that computer.
Note:
This option is not available in certain regions. See the countries served by Digital River.
- Sign to your Adobe account with your Adobe ID (usually your email) and password.
- In the Activated devices section (toward the bottom of the page), deactivate the device.
